A letter to the Anti-Catholics

What is right? What is Christian truth? What may true Christians accept and follow? The answer points to Christ, Lord and Savior of both Jews and Gentiles- the founder of our Christian faith. What would Jesus Christ make of Catholicism and attacks against it?

Catholics aren’t Christians, they hold the Pope over God. They worship Mary and commit necromancy, blasphemy and cannibalism. More so, the Vatican has been an corrupt organization having opposed Christ and committed heinous crimes in history. Rome is leading blind souls to hell. ?

Back then, conspiracies not unlike these were aimed at the Jewish people- and we know how that turned out!

Christians, all of you, look to Christ crucified and see the meaning of Christian love. Look to Christ risen and see the new life he has given us. Many hate the things of Christ within, rejecting meekness and passing judgment fit for God alone!

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!”-Isaiah 5:20-21

You should know better as to who you’ll call “Christian” and who you’ll not. What perfection have you to separate wheat from chaff and say to the Lord “These are worthy but these are not”?

“And why beholdest thou the splinter that is in thy brother's eye, but consider not the beam that is in thine own eye? Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the splinter out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Thou hypocrite, first cast the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast the splinter out of thy brother's eye.”
- Matthew 7:3-5

Devote yourselves more to Christ, Our Savior, and you will not be like Pharisees who interpreted Scripture vainly, lived in vain faith, and lived by vainworks. Bury yourself into the life of Christ so that things of men and squabbles betweendenominations pass you. He is your Lord, turn your eyes upon him!

Read that: “All the powers that be are of God” – Romans 13:1
Why then do you despise the Pope and then sit yourselves on his chair makingyour own infallible pronouncements? Christ did not give you the power to bind and loose! Someone great had a problem with authority. He rebelled claiming his rights, wanting freedom from theocracy: His name was Lucifer.
Do you rally against the papacy, hating its claim to authority, which has been since the Christian Church’s infancy? Take your wrath up with He who placed it there! Complain to God!
Do you hate Tradition? Then curse He who put it forth! Complain to Lord Christ, that the commission he placed upon the apostles’ lips isn’t good enough for you, isn’t convenient or that it isn’t easy for you to understand.

"Lo, “The foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God isstronger than men.”
- 1 Corinthians 1: 25

You cannot preach purity while dissolving Traditions! You cannot write your ownGospel! You cannot lay hands on yourself and ordain yourself a bishop! Without the Holy Spirit, you are nothing and can learn nothing.

“Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our LordJesus Christ. Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.” - 2 Thessalonians 2:14-15

“Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that yewithdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after thetradition which he received of us.” – 2 Thessalonians 3:6

These are the words of Paul: “Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.” - 1 Corinthians 11:1-2

Does Paul’s command unnerve you, urging us to keep traditions? All of you have elders and must be guided lest you stray from the Christian walk or grow weary inyour souls. Remember what the eunuch said to Philip, a minister of the Lord: “How can I learn but some man should teach me?” – Acts 8:30-31

Paul himself said: “For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not manyfathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” - 1 Corinthians 4:15

No matter how old or cumbersome, Christ said of the apostolic authority he placed:“Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” – John 13:20

You belong to Christ- not the world, not even to your own selves. It is unwise toPick and choose which words of God you hear, what commands to follow, which ones tohold. Retain Christ in your heart, seek to be entirely his- or not his at all. There are no parts of Christ that you can either cherish or throw away. Love the Lord with all your heart, all you mind and all your soul! Love your neighbor as yourself. The sum of all Christian teaching lies in this.

How might Jesus Christ respond to our condemning the Catholic Church, its error and corruption? He may congratulate your purity and noble intention. He might say: “Blest is your zeal for the Lord’s house!” Ultimately, he would ask: “What have ye against your brother?
Did I not tell you: Reconcile first with thy brother before you come to the altar of worship, then offer your gift ? – Matthew 5: 23-24 Make not an insult to them but rebuke your brethren in charity lest their hearts harden more against the faith.”
Taking your hand, Our Lord will shepherd you. He would probably add: “My child, worry not about how righteous is a Pope, worry after your own righteousness. Take thine eyes off your brother’s feet and check your own, lest both you stumble. If this man harm or lead to untruth, I shall write it. If he aid my flock and grant me good service, I shall also write of it.”

I love you even if you hate me. Should anything come of this, I hope our common love for Christ brings peace. I have spoken my piece and tried to exercise charity where I admonished and used wisdom in my defense of our fellow Christians.

A true Christian serves and follows Jesus Christ, the Redeemer of all Men, whether they are in Rome, New York, China or Paris, whether they have preachers, prophets or priests, be they children or adults, poor or learned, blind, old or young, lost and found, faithful and weak. May we one day, join our praises of Christ the Lord, with the angels and saints.

Peace of the Lord be with you all, ~Amen.

  1. Rae, I can understand your frustration completely. We are constantly accused of not being Christian, of worshiping the prophet Joseph Smith, and not believing the Bible. That's only the beginning of the lies people spread about my faith. I've learned it does no good to argue. You are absolutely right about focusing on "our common love for Christ" and "exercise charity". I believe when it all comes down to it, these two things are most important.

I posted an article once by a Lutheran Bishop who gave some wonderful advice on inter-faith discussions, check it out if you get a chance, it's really good.
